History of Health Software Updates

Version 3.0.411 Issued on 10/8/2009.
Combined the My Doctor Visits database with the Appointment database. This makes it much easier for the user. The Appointment must be made via Health Software before the doctor visit can be evaluated. This should have been done a long time ago. Also did a lot of cleanup on other software modules.

Version 3.0.402 ReIssued on 11/25/2008.
Fixed a error on the BG and BP modules. When the user tried to create a Date to Date graph, nothing happened. The path to the BG and BP databases pointed to the wrong directory. This resulted in the process being aborted.

V3.0.402 ReIssued on 11/9/2008.
Fixed a error on the weight module. When the user tried to show a graph for the last 30 days of data, an error would occur, and the software would bomb. This error has apparently existed for a very long time.

V3.0.402 ReIssued on 8/19/2008.
Added the Weight Change Per Day value to the graph on the weight module. The value has existed on the grid for some time. Creating a graph for the values for the specified time period will give the user a good picture of irregular weight swings. Use your own judgement if the graph is of any use to you. If you have thryoid problems, then the weight change graph will be of good use since it indicates a trend. Be sure to show your doctor. The graph is created via a menu selection under Miscellaneous. Also added the number of days since the user last weighed himself to the startup page. This gives the user a constant reminder to weigh himself frequently.

V3.0.402 ReIssued on 6/05/2008.
Added "Location of the Leg Cramp" Field to the Leg Cramp Module database. This is where you were located when the leg cramp occurred. Example of a location - While sleeping, sitting in a chair, walking, standing, etc. People affected with diabetes typically get a lot of leg cramps. This location feature will help you analyze the conditions of your leg cramps.

V3.0.402 ReIssued on 5/14/2008.
Fixed problems on the Insulin and Cholesterol modules. Got rid of that very stupid Toolbar on the Insulin module.

V3.0.402 ReIssued on 4/16/2008.
Fixed a problem on the hypo module. The txtAReasonForTheHypoNotListedAbove was not connected to the database. If you entered data in the text box, it was not saved. A real stupid error.

V3.0.402 ReIssued on 4/04/2008.
Fixed a problem concerning display of Time on the insulin module. The 24 hour selection would only display in analog format.

V3.0.402 Issued on 3/21/2008.
Redesigned the user interface on the Medical Team and Appointment Schedule module. The user hopefully will find it much easier to use and traverse. Also made the grid on each module a tad more user friendly (looks better) by adding a somewhat grey color to the fixed column and fixed row.

V3.0.401 ReIssued on 2/07/2008.
Fixed a bug on the MyDoctorVisits module.

V3.0.401 ReIssued on 12/07/2007.
Fixed a bug on the Cholesterol module.

V3.0.401 ReIssued on 11/26/2007.
Fixed a bug on the Diabetic Hypo module.

V3.0.401 Issued on 11/21/2007.
Redesigned the user interface on the My Doctor Visits module. It was a poor design to start with.

V3.0.400 Issued on 10/09/2007.
Did some work on the Meal Plan Module.

V3.0.274 Issued on 10/03/2007.
The software is finally multi user capable. Users have been requesting this for several years. Each user will have their individual directory which will store the databases and configuration files for the respective individual.

The User can also archive any Health Database off site to another storage device. It may be a good idea to store the databases and config files on an external drive, like a USB Thumb Drive. This should be done every week. If you somehow corrupt or delete a database, you can just install the respective database from the external device, and you are back in business. I also made a small change on how the software makes a backup copy to the backup directory. The backup copy will only be made whenever you make a change to the respective database.

The Insulin module is finally issued. The user can now change the color of the graphs created by the Health software. This may be of interest to users with vision problems. Also added a bunch of statistics to the BG and BP Forms.

V3.0.272 Issued on 4/20/2007.
Added the Diabetic Hypos module to the software package. The user can now catalog the frequency, intensity, treatment, and other characteristics of a diabetic hypo. This feature could be invaluable for new Type 1s.

V3.0.271 ReIssued on 3/19/2007.
An error was reported and resolved on the BG module where if the last BG entry was more then seven days ago, an error occurred in calculating the scrolling BG statistics on the bottom of the BG form. Added the 10 highest and 10 lowest BG readings to the BG module.

V3.0.271 ReIssued on 3/04/2007.
I added some statistics to the Overall Statistics and the Status Bar on the Glucose module. This gives the user a picture of the 7 day, 14 day, and 30 day statistics. Each of the three dates will scroll for ten seconds. The stats include Average BG reading of the time period, the percentage BG readings between 70 and 120 mg/dL, and the percentage of BG Fasting readings above 100 mg/dL. The 70 - 120 range is the ideal range for a nondiabetic person. This gives the user how his readings compare to a nondiabetic. The Fasting value of 100 is somewhat conjectural as a upper limit of a Fasting BG number. This tells you how your fasting readings are doing. Too many fasting readings above 100 may be something you need to discuss with your doctor.

V3.0.271 ReIssued on 1/17/2007.
A bug was reported on the Blood Glucose module where data was misplaced on certain conditions. Also added the 30 day statistics at the bottom of the BG form.

V3.0.271 ReIssued on 4/05/2006.
A bug was reported on the Leg Clamp module where on a new install, data could not be entered.

V3.0.271 ReIssued on 3/04/2006.
Made a few cosmetic changes to the BG module.

V3.0.270 ReIssued on 1/19/2006.
A problem was reported on the My Feet module where the software would not create a new database. Stupid legacy code somehow got placed where it should not have been, and aborted the process. Thanks Patti.

V3.0.270 Issued on 12/16/2005.
Added the 'Leg Cramps' module to the software. It allows the user to track any leg cramps he may experience. Cramps mostly occur while sleeping. The calf muscle knots up and burns like the depths of hell. Quite common amongst diabetics. The user logs the Date/Time of the cramp, which leg was affected by the cramp, the intensity of the pain (0 to 50) involved, and any comments the user may have concerning the leg cramp.

12/6/2005 V3.0.269 ReIssued.
Did a bunch of touchup work on numerous modules. No major changes.

11/02/2005 V3.0.269 Issued.
Added a weight change per day column to the grid on the weight module. This gives the user how his/her weight changes on a daily basis. When you print the weight data to paper, the column is added. I may add this to the graph in a few weeks. The amount of weight change is a given time period is of great importance.

10/03/2005 V3.0.268 Issued.
Added the Liver/Kidney/Thyroid module to record the results of blood and urine tests used to evaluate the condition of your liver, thyroid, and kidneys. The module consists of a GUI and database. There is no graphing. Nor, is there any print to paper capability since trying to print 30 data columns to paper is not possible. The user can rename the grid columns as desired.

Also redesigned the Medications useage module so that the supplements, OTC, and prescription medications each have their respective grid and database.

4/07/2005 V3.0.266 Issued.
Reworked the Trend line graph arrangements of the BG/BP/Temperature modules. There were to many time arrangements. I reduced the moving timeframe average to one half the graph timeframe. I think this moving timeframe produces a fairly good Trend Line graph. The trend line graph can be displayed in the 'Amplified' or 'Normal' mode for BG and BP. The amplified mode enhances the distortions of the trend graph.

Added nondiabetic (120/80) BG Limits to the BG graph. This is a menu selection. It really enhances the BG graph and gives a good visual representation of how your BG reading compare to nondiabetic levels. The limits can be reset by the user in the User Preferences module. Something similar is also on the BG module for systolic and diastolic graphs. This is a nice feature. I should have added this a long time ago.

3/21/2005 V3.0.264 ReIssued.
BG module - Added a menu selection showing high/low BG values.

My Feet module - Gave it printing to paper capability. I got a new printer.

Weight module - Added Waistline and BMI columns to the data grid. The size of a person's Waistline is becoming quite important in the war against obesity and control of diabetes. Every time a person documents his weight, he should also enter the dimensions of his Waistline. The BMI value is automatically calculated based on the person's weight and height. The inclusion of the BMI in the grid will give the user relationship of BMI.

BP module - A handy feature of the Health software is that the user has the option of displaying user defined limits for Systolic and Diastolic values. Systolic should be less than 120, and Diastolic should be less than 80 for a diabetic. The software is designed so that the user can adjust these values up and down as desired from the User Preferences module. The user can display these values in the respective Systolic or Diastolic graph. The inclusion of these values give the user a good visual picture of how their systolic or diastolic readings correlate with preferred values.

Resolved numerous concerns of data column alignment while printing to paper various software modules.

3/1/2005 V3.0.263 ReIssued.
I didn't like the way the Trend Line graphs on BG/BP/Temperature modules were displayed. The upper and lower limits of the trend graph are now the same as that of the graph it represents.

2/12/2005 V3.0.263 Issued.
Fixed a bug on the BG Test Locations Form. I often wonder when I last changed the BG lancet needle. Some people change their Lancet Needle for each BG test, and some don't. This is what the lancet and needle manufacturers tell the user to do. So I added a column in the BG database to record when the user changes the lancet needle. The BG module has a menu selection which shows the user when the lancet needle was last changed and how many times it has been used since.

2/05/2005 V3.0.262 Issued.
Cleaned up a few bugs. Added Trend Line to the Temperature module. Changed the Trend Line from simple moving average to Exponential Smoothing moving average. EMA is a trend analysis method that puts emphasis on recent data. It produces a smoother trend line. A number of users were confused on what the Condition called "Liver Dump" was on the BG module. It meant one thing to me and something else to everybody else. So I eliminated the Liver Dump Condition on the BG module. The BG database will automatically convert all existing Conditions called "Liver Dump" to "1 hr after Breakfast".

12/27/2004 V3.0.259 Issued.
I added Trend Line graphing to all single line graphs of the BP module. This includes the Systolic, Diastolic, and Pulse graphs. Trend line can be quite revealing about where you are heading.

12/23/2004 V3.0.258 Issued.
I added Trend Line graphing to all single line graphs of the BG module. Previously I only had trend line for all values of the graph. Adding Trend line to the BP module is next.

11/26/2004 V3.0.257 Issued.
Added 4 and 5 Hour BG graphing to the Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner periods of the BG module. I have a condition where my morning spikes stay elevated to the 4 and 5 hour timeframes after breakfast. I see some pretty nasty spikes. This will help you monitor your after meal spikes for extended periods up to 5 hours. Foods like pizza can produce a spike which lasts 5 hours. I also added 'My Doctor Visits' module to the Health Software. The intent is so the patient has a way to rate and document the interaction with a medical professional at a medical facility. It can also serve as a reminder of what problems or concerns that did not get resolved at the last appointment. The unresolved concerns may have to be addressed at the next appointment. I did not give the 'My Doctor Visits' module print to paper capability. My printer is broken. When I replace the printer, I will add printing to paper capability.

11/14/2004 V3.0.256 Issued.
Added "Pulse Pressure" to the Blood Pressure Module. Pulse pressure is the difference between peak systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure. A person with a blood pressure reading of 120/80 has a pulse pressure of 40. If your pulse pressure is 60 or over you may be at increased risk of atherosclerosis. In patients aged 60 years and older, PP is the best predictor of coronary heart disease, with SBP also playing a positive predictive role.

10/16/2004 V3.0.254 Issued.
I added 'My Feet' module to the software package. It is intended so the user can document diabetic problems he is having with his feet.

10/14/2004 V3.0.253 ReIssued.
I fixed a problem on the Appointment schedule.

10/06/2004 V3.0.253 Issued.
I added a warning to the user to have his cholesterol checked at least once a year. I got blindsided by an inattentive doctor which resulted in my seeing a alarming high cholesterol level for a year. High cholesterol can cause heart attacks. Get your cholesterol checked at least once a year. It is too important to ignore.

08/02/2004 V3.0.251 Issued.
A lot of diabetics (me included) have a serious problem with huge rises in BG levels after arising in the morning. This is called Dawn Phenomenen or commonly called a Liver Dump. To get you going in the morning, your liver releases glucose into your system. This results in an surplus of glucose resulting in a rise in your BG levels. The rise can be small or it can be huge. The dump affects each person differently. For me, the dump occurs about an hour after I eat breakfast. It is very important that you watch for this dump since the effects of spikes are cumulative. If the dump results in your BG>150, you could harm yourself. I created a Condition called "Liver Dump". It is up to you to determine when the maximum BG level occurs during this morning period. It varies for each of us. When you determine about when the maximum occurs, record the BG reading under the Condition of "Liver Dump". There are two graphing menus relating to this Liver Dump value. One menu displays the actual rise of the liver dump. It is the mathematical difference between the Fasting and Liver Dump readings. The other menu displays the individual graphs of Fasting vs Liver Dump. It is very important that you watch for this liver dump value.

7/30/2004 V3.0.249 ReIssued.
Fixed numerous Bugs reported over the past few weeks.

7/07/2004 V3.0.249 Issued.
Several users in the past few days have deleted their databases. So I added daily database backup to all modules of the Health Software. The feature will be added later to the Pain module due to its complexity. Let's say you launch the 'My Diabetic Diary' module of the health software. The software will check the file date of the 'My Diabetic Diary' database. If the file date is earlier than today's date, a copy of the file will be made to the 'Daily Backup of Health Software Databases' directory. If for some reason, you corrupt or delete the diabetic diary database, just transfer the respective database from the daily backup directory to the health directory and you are back in business.

6/02/2004 V3.0.248 ReIssued.
Had to change the software related email address. It was being spammed to death. No other changes.

5/18/2004 V3.0.248 Issued.
A fair number of changes have been added to the software package. A 12 vs 24 hour time clock has been added. The user can display Time in the AMPM or Military Time. This adds flexibility for the user. A very useful Histogram has been added to the Overall Statistics of the BG module. The histogram categorizes BG values within time based periods for easily recognized patterns. This is really useful for people who want to maintain good BG control. The biggest addition to the software is Trend Line analysis for the BG module. Trend line takes erratic BG values and smoothes them out and presents a graph indicating a trend. I chose to let the user choose a multiple Trend time periods. Short trend time periods will produce a Trend graph that is erratic. The longer the Trend time period, the more the Trend graph will represent a straight line. It is a great tool. Also added duration of pain to the pain module.

3/22/2004 V3.0.243 ReIssued.
Fixed a problem on the Pain Module.

3/15/2004 V3.0.243 Issued.
Added the Medical Team and Appointment Schedule module to the software package. This is where you can keep track of the contact information and characteristics of the medical professionals you interact with. Think of it like a medically oriented address book. Also added the Number of BG Tests per Day to the Overall Statistics window of the BG module. Kinda handy to see your testing frequency over time.

3/04/2004 V3.0.242 ReIssued.
Fixed a problem with the usage of a decimal point on the weight module. This affected users which use the metric system. When a user tries entering a weight value with a decimal in it, a dialog box will warn the user.

2/27/2004 V3.0.242 ReIssued.
Fixed a Bug in printing to paper. The Bug was that your name was not printed. When I added the visual BMI to the package, I moved the person's name in the windows registry and forgot to include a call to the new registry location. A easy fix.

2/26/2004 V3.0.242 Issued.
The Health software will make daily backups of the blood glucose and blood pressure databases. A fair number of health users like to tinker with the databases and corrupt them. Or, the user will delete the respective without making a backup first. In either case, the user loses all data. To solve the problem, the software will automatically make a backup of the respective database when you launch the Health software. This will occur only for the first time you launch the software each day. In this manner, you only lose one day of data. The backup for the BG database is called "BG_History_DailyBackup.abd" and the backup for the BP database is called "BPHistory_DailyBackup.abd". Both files are located in the Health/Archive directory.

2/23/2004 V3.0.241 Issued.
The Atkins diet and the low carb revolution has sparked interested in Body Mass Index (BMI). The BMI is a function of height and weight. The Health software has always had a BMI function on the Weight module. But, it was a menu selection and the output was a simple text statement. It didn't really convey the information in a useful manner. So I added a visual progressive bar to show the user where his BMI was in relation to the limits of normal weight, overweight, and obese limits. It conveys the importance of good weight control. View the weight screen print. Enjoy.

2/21/2004 V3.0.240 ReIssued.
Added a blinking feature to the Sequential Finger Testing of the BG module. Much easier for the user to determine which finger should be tested when the area around the respective test location blinks.

2/18/2004 V3.0.240 Issued.
Added Sequential Finger Testing to the BG module. This presents the User with a sense of order to which finger will be used for BG testing. The user can remove a finger from the testing schedule by right clicking on the finger location, and that finger will no longer be tested. Sequential testing allows all permitted testing locations to be evenly tested. With Random testing, the user has whether each finger is tested with the same frequency. This can be cumbersome. With Sequence testing, the software tells you which finger should be tested based on the last finger tested and based on the list of available testing locations. A real step forward. Enjoy.

1/28/2004 V3.0.237 Issued.
Added "Area" type of graph to all pertinent modules of the software. Also added 1PP vs 2PP to the Meal graphs on the BG module. Also added the Meal Plan module to the software package. The user can now record the details of the meals he eats. The user can record the total weight of the meal, amount of calories, carbohydrates, total fat, and protein of the meal. This is valuable information for people on restricted diets.

12/19/2003 V3.0.233 Issued.
Added "FBG vs Last BG Reading of Previous Day" to the BG module. This graphing feature will display how your system handles glucose overnight. Results can be quite revealing. Also added "Time Span" to the Pain module. This will display a tabular and graphical representation to the time lapse between pain data enteries. Quite useful.

12/3/2003 V3.0.231 Issued.
Did a lot of cleanup work on printing to paper. Made all archiving to the Archive Directory.

11/26/2003 V3.0.230 Issued.
Added the Pain Form to the software package. You can record and graph all your aches and pains. The pain level range is from 1 to 100. Create a database for each type of pain you experience. You can see it evolves over time. Keep in mind that the pain module is very subjective in nature since each person looks at pain differently.

11/18/2003 V3.0.229 Issued.
Added Test Locations to the graphing menu on the BG Form. Also added Meter and Test Locations to the print data of the BG Form.

11/16/2003 V3.0.228 Issued.
A few minor touchups on the BG and Bowel Forms.

11/10/2003 V3.0.227 Issued.
Added the Bowel Movement Form to the software package.

10/15/2003 V3.0.225 Issued.
Redid the startup screen. Looked cluttered.

10/13/2003 V3.0.224 Issued.
Added Cholesterol to the package. The user can record Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL, LDL, VLDL, CHOL/HDLC. The user can graph Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL, LDL. It is very important to maintain good cholesterol levels when you have diabetes.

10/12/2003 V3.0.223 Issued.
Added Non Diabetic Readings and Hyperglycemia Readings to the graphing of the BG Form. The Non Diabetic menu selection will display a graph with values from 70 to 120 ng/dL for a given time frame. This will give the user an idea of how often his BG's are in the ideal zone. The Hyperglycemia menu selection will display a graph with all values above 120 mg/dL for a given time frame. This will give the user an idea how often his BG's are above the ideal zone. Keep in mind that the software already has the Hypoglycemia selection which displays a graph less than 70 mg/dL. The three menu selections will give the user a very good picture of his BG profile.

9/27/2003 V3.0.222 Issued.
Added a graph time frame of The Past Year to the BG and BP Forms.

8/26/2003 V3.0.221 Issued.
Resolved a Bug on the Supplements Form.

8/09/2003 V3.0.220 Issued.
Resolved a Bug.

7/26/2003 V3.0.220 Issued.

1/17/2003 V3.0.141 Issued
Added a Weight notification schedule to the Weight Form. Also did some cleanup work on the Weight Form.

1/02/03 V3.0.14 Issued
Added a graphing selection called "From BG to BG" on the BG Form. It is a menu selection where the User can display a graph between two different BG values. Also did some cleanup work on the display of the graphs and the graph preferences. This afftected all Forms.

12/23/02 V3.0.12 Issued
A few minor problems were cleared up. The Supplements and OTC Meds Form was added to the software package. The user lists all the supplements and OTC medication being taken. Print the data to paper and gives the output to the healh care professional for evaluation. The last thing a diabetic wants is to use a supplement/OTC med which reacts with a prescription medication. Sometimes, undesirable side effects occur when two medicaions collide. Hopefully the medical professional can advise you whether the supplements/OTC Meds are proper for you. I advise you to use this Form religiously. Also added Hypo graphing to the BG Form.

12/15/02 V3.00 ReIssued
A BP database Error was reported and resolved this morning.

12/13/02 V3.00 Issued
Version 3 is a major update for the Health software. The graphing abilities for Blood Glucose and Blood Pressure has been greatly enhanced.

12/07/02 V2.97.82 ReIssued
A minor change was made to the BG GUI.

12/01/02 V2.97.82 Issued
When the software is initially installed, and the user enters the first BG entry, all goes well. If the second BG entry has an earlier date, the data was entered in the database as a later entry, not as a previous entry. Really screws up the grid and graph. The problem was easily solved.

11/24/02 V2.97.81 Issued
The Graph Histogram on the BG Form was upgraded. The BG Form was also revised so the User can't use the same Condition twice in the same day. Two of the same condition make the graphs look horrible.

11/08/02 V2.97.7 Issued
The Condition.txt file was converted to binary file Condition.abd. The binary format prevents Users from editing the text file.

11/05/02 V2.97.6 Issued
Stan discovered an error on the A1c Form and suggested archiving the databases. When you deleted a Record from the A1c Database, a bogus record was inserted. The problem was easily resolved. The User can now archive the BG, BP, Weight, and A1c databases by a menu selection. Thanks Stan.

10/20/02 V2.97.5 ReIssued
A guy named Stan discovered an error on BG graphing. If the User wanted to graph the Lowest BG Reading of say the last 7 days, the software would actually display the maximum BG reading of each day. A simple fix. Thanks Stan.

10/16/02 V2.97.5 Issued
1. A suggestion was made to make the Overall Statistics visibility for the BG and BP Forms to be constant.

10/15/02 V2.97.0 Reissued
1. A problem with printing on the BG Form was reported this morning. The problem was corrected, and the same Version was reissued.

10/3/02 V2.97.0
1. The BG History file has a new Format. A field has been eliminated, and another field has been modified. If you have used an earlier version of the Health Software, your existing BGHistory.abd file will be converted to the new format. When an existing BGHistory file is detected, the software will prompt the User.
2. A One hour and a Two hour Test Timer has been added to the BG Form. A person with diabetes should test one hour and two hours after eating a meal. The goal is to stay within non - diabetic numbers of 140 after one hour, and 120 after two hours. Problem is, most people forget when the one hour or the two hour period is up. They may test at 2.5 hours in lieu of two hours. If you want to test at two hours after eating, select the "Activate 2 Hour Timer" from the menu. When the two hours is up, the software will sound a melody. The same is true for the one hour test. The sound melody is either a ringing phone or several trumpets. You must have the pc's audio system turned on. The selection process contains a "Test" menu to determine which of the two melodies you want to use.
3. The graphs for BG and BP have been improved.
4. The monitoring and graphing of the A1c test has been added to the software. There is some confusion as to the effective time frame for the A1c test. Some say 90 days, while others say the A1c test covers 120 days. To cover all possibilities, I designed the software to allow the User to select 60, 90, or 120 days via a menu selection. A grid will show the A1c value and the BG average for the selected time period. Ninety days is the default time period. A graph consisting of A1c and BG average values will be displayed. This will be a good indicator of how your daily BG numbers compare to the doctor's A1c test. Can be quite revealing.
5. Earlier versions of the Health Software only used the United States units (mg/dL) for recording BG values. The software now uses the US (mg/dL) and the world standard (mmol/L) for recording BG values.

If you have used an earlier version of Health Software, I suggest you make backups of your existing databases: BGHistory.abd, BPHistory.abd, and WeightHistory.abd prior to installing V2.97. Prior to installing any software upgrade, always backup critical files.

8/23/02 V2.85.0
Changed the tool tips on the Buttons. Removed a Button from the BP Form.

8/21/02 V2.80.0
A major Bug was reported by a user last night. The Bug was if you tried to enter a date and time for a BG value that already existed in the BG database, the software would crash. The result was a corrupted database which would have to be deleted. The user lost all his BG data. The Bug was easy to resolve by adding about 6 lines of code to each of the BG, BP, and Weight forms. Another user reported a similar software crash about 6 weeks ago, but, we couldn't recreate the problem.
