FAQ's

Q: Where are my Data Files?
A: The software is installed in a default directory of "C:\Program Files\Health\", unless the user installs the software in another directory. Since the software is multi user capable, each user has their own individual directory which contains all their data files. The name of this particular directory is the name of the user. If your name is Joe Schmoe, then there is a directory called Joe Schmoe. Your data files will be found in "C:\Program Files\Health\Joe Schmoe\".

Q: Is the Health Software capable of having more than one user?
A: Yes. The software can handle many users. Each user has its' own unique set of data files.

Q: I've used the Health software for some time, and just purchased a new pc. How do I transfer my data files to the new pc?
A: Install the latest issuance of the software on the new pc. If the ol pc is networked to the new pc, use windows file explorer on the new pc to locate the Health directory in the old pc, and copy each user directory to the new pc. Remember, each user directory is the name of the user. IF the two pc's are not networked, then copy each user directory to a USB thumb drive, or a CD. After that is done, put the USB in the thumb drive or the CD in the CD drive on the new pc, and copy the user directories to the Health directory on the new pc.

I almost forgot one thing, you need to transfer one file from the Health directory on the ol pc to the new pc. The file is called HealthDiabeticSoftware_UserNames.ini, and is located in "C:\Program Files\Health\HealthDiabeticSoftware_UserNames.ini". This text file contains all the names of all users of the Health Software. Without this text file, your data files are useless.

Q: I've used the software for some time, and my wife has just been diagnosed with diabetes. She wants to also use the software. Her name is Donna Schmoe, and my name is Joe Schmoe. How do I set up a user account for her?
A: Launch the software, and the login form will appear.
Press the For New Users button. This will bring up the User Preference form.
Press the Edit Data button on the User Preference form.
Enter the information as required on the form. You can select between metric and US measurement standards. It is best not to mix up metric and US standards. After all the data is entered, press the Apply Changes button to save the data. When the button is pressed, Donna Schmoe's name is added to the user name file "C:\Program Files\Health\HealthDiabeticSoftware_UserNames.ini". Donna's user directory will be created and called "C:\Program Files\Health\Donna Schmoe\". Be sure all your data is correct before you press the Apply Changes button.
Press the Exit Button. The login form will reappear.
Now select which Health module you wish to use.

Q: My wife and I each use the Health software. When I launch the software, only my name (Joe Schmoe) is shown on the form. Where is my wife's name, so she can log in?
A: On the login form there is a drop down box where it is labeled Select User Name. On the right side of the box, there is a down arrow. Press this down arrow, and all user names will be displayed in alphabetical order. Scroll down to where your wife's name (Donna Schmoe) is located, and click on her name. Her data files will be loaded into the software. Now select module you want to work with.

Keep in mind that when the software is launched, the last person to use the software will have his data file being loaded. This happens by default since most of the time, only one person will use the software.

Q: I've been using the software for some time, and just reinstalled the windows operating system. What happened to my data?

A: Most likely the reinstallation of the operating system formatted the hard drive. This destroys all data on the hard drive.

Q: How often should the data files be backed up?
A: A good practice is to back up the entire Health directory to a USB drive every couple weeks. External storage different from the pc is a very good idea. Just put the USB stick in the USB drive, launch windows explorer, go to the Health directory and copy the entire Health directory. This will pick up all subdirectories and all files. Scroll windows explorer to the USB drive, and paste the Health contents to the USB stick. A USB stick is a good external storage device.
